ANTS!!!

FREAKIN ANTS EVERYWHERE!!!!!

Apparently, it rained a bit while I was away from home and the ants fled for shelter in my room where they found some sugary things that I was dumb enough to leave for them, on my bed...

I have a rather large bed and it was covered in ants marching from a hole in my window, across my floor, and onto my bed. Im guessing around five meters worth of a densely packed line of ants. It's going to take a few days to get rid of these guys. I took the opportunity to try out the CrazySuperMacroSetting on my camera. I never even looked in the bag of candy to see what was happening in there...

Chicago Colossal Jam!

OMG so there was this Parkour Jam in Chicago... Around 70 people showed up and took part in the awsomesauce. Observe:

We began at 10:00 in the AM jumping on the Parkour homiely campus of The University Of Illinois At Chicago. Then lunch and smoothies, YUM! From there we walked around the amazing city to hit up some nice hotspots on the way to the water fountain where we cooled off by swimming and splashing around until we got kicked out. It all ended around 6:00 in the PM and made for a good 8 hour day of Parkouring the city. The jam was well documented with cameramen following us, but I dont have any of that footage just yet.

The following day consisted of flips at the beach until getting rained out and then going to see a freakin sweet movie titled WALL-E.

Out Of Contact

It has been quite a while since I last posted on this Blog. But a have a good reason. I've been out of contact. It all began when I woke up and realized that I was going to Ohio with the family to visit the grandparents. In this particular section of Ohioland, my phone got absolutely zero service, even though my family(on the same Verizon plan) had no trouble making calls. Sux 4 me...

But that's not what kept me from blogging. Lack of internet was to blame here. No internet at the grandparents house. No wifi hot spots emerging from the surrounding farmland. A half hour drive would get me to the library where I was limited to checking e-mail...

So Ohio killed my internet presence for about 5 days, and I left my computer with my family so I could travel extra light for my trip to Chicago for The Chicago Colossal Jam which left kept me off the web for another 4 days. I got back today and spent the whole day sitting at my computer struggling to catch up with the overflowing heap of data that has been waiting for me.

Firefox 3

News in technology, Firefox 3, the latest and greatest piece of software by Mozilla was officially released today. Of course, if you follow Mozilla at all you would probably have downloaded it in beta weeks ago, but I waited for today. Today was Download Day and, in this day, Mozilla intends to set the Guinness World Record for greatest number of downloads for a piece of software in one day. So I did that and there were a few things that I had to deal with because I do a lot with my Firefox and some things have changed, but I'm excited... sorta.

Now some news that actually has something to do with me:

I helped my uncle move today. Myself and Karuna filled a UHaul truck with big, heavy things. For a family of four, they had quite a lot of big, heavy things, and most of it had to got down the stairs, out the door, into the truck, out of the truck, in the other door, and up the other stairs.
This move will satisfy them for a couple weeks. They are actually having a house built nearby, but since they already sold their old house (which is actually very new), they needed a place to live and store their things until the newer new house is built. Did that make sense?
All of this means that I will be moving all of the same things again very soon. In fact, the house that I will be moving them into is a replica of the one that I just moved them out of, so it will be like pressing Ctrl-Z, but not quite as effortless.

Enough with the words, fool. Its Video Time.

Father's Day!

Yay! It's Father's Day! That's worth blogging about, right? Only because today is the day that I finally get to meet my illegitimate children. They better have bought me presents...

Now for the real bit. I got a haircut today. I wonder if anyone will notice. Actually, scratch that. I don't wonder. I don't really care. I hardly ever notice when people change their look, which brings me to today's video by BaratsAndBereta.

Intense Day

WARNING: Long Story. Short version in last line of post.

Today was an extra fun day. I got to do many things including but not limited to:

-Climbing around an abandoned insane asylum
-Jumping off a bridge into water
-Rope swinging, also into water
-Extremely random hiking
-Playing on one of those playgrounds filled with tires.

But I'd have to say that the most ridiculous part of the day was during hike back to the car. We're running down a freakin trail to get back before dark. The trail comes out to train tracks where there is currently a train going in our direction. "We should jump on the train," says Grant, jokingly.
So then I start running... next to the train. I reach out with my hands, grab a ladder, and jump. Now I'm on the side of a train cruising toward my destination. I look back and Grant has followed my example but Jason is still walking.
As Grant and I quickly lose sight of Jason, we realize we must disengage before reaching the tunnel or the bridge in order to reunite with Jason. Jumping off our ladders is awkward because the train is picking up speed. "Its a good thing we jumped off when we did."
We turn to start walking back for Jason and see him speeding towards us attached to the side of the crazy train. It is going faster and faster and he has to make his move soon or go with the train to whereverthehell it is headed. He jumps and runs, almost falling with every step, dangerously close to the massive metal mayhem that is now barreling down the tracks carrying a forceful wind and a deafening rumble.

But we're all OK! So we LOLed and we ROFLed all the way back to the car.

That's right. We jumped onto a moving train.

Philip DeFranco

BIG NEWS!!!
Sxephil is back on YouTube!
Sxephil left the youtubes on Friday June 6, 2008. Everyone was very upset. But, he came back in this video on Tuesday June 10, 2008.

In the video you see ShayCarl (Another amazing YouTuber) attempting to get Phil on camera and Philip DeFranco is wooshing past the camera like Superman.
This might not actually mean that he is coming back, but he just might.

Running Throught The Heat

I got home from the beach on Saturday. You know what I simply cannot do? I can't go tanning, lying lifeless on a towel in the sand. Why would I do that when I can be doing something fun while I tan? I have have trouble understanding how so many people choose to spend their time at the beach.

On a similar note, I went on another bike ride yesterday. I went about 19 miles with temperatures in the upper 90s. The heat is pretty intense but I just cant stand to sit around like everybody else. I wonder what I will do today now that the temperature has just crossed the 100 degree mark. Maybe I will go for a run...
If you think I'm crazy, check out Dean Karnazes. That guy is crazy.

Shorter From Now On, Promise

My last post was stupid long and all I really said was that I got lost and did a double frontflip which ended in a faceplant. So if you haven't read it yet, you dont have to. You already know what happens.

Today I did not do very much. I surfed the internets for a while and found this video:

Its the last parkour jam of VTPK '08

I went cycling. I haven't done any intense endurance riding in a LONG time. I got tired very quickly, so I now plan on rebuilding my endurance just like I did last summer.
That should be fun.

First Post, Last Post?

i has blog, so i suppose i will use it. Here it goes...

This is my first post. It is also my last post. Hopefully that wont be true for too long. If that makes any sense, than good for you. If it doesnt, dont worry about it.

I could begin this whole blog thing by explaining a few things about myself... but I wont because this post is already too long. Sorry about the length. I just wanted you to feel my pain.

I woke up this morning with plans to meet up with some tracuers and take part in a parkour jam, but I rushed out the door without havng a good idea of where I was going, so I drove around until I got lost which didnt take very long because I dont ever drive so I have no idea how those crazy roads work.

Anyway, I wound up at the south end of patapsco state park and decided to stop by and see if they could help me get back on track. The people at the entrance seemed nice, but couldnt help me. They told me to ask at the visitor center inside the park and let me go in without paying. Or maybe I drove in without giving them a chance to charge me.... Whatever, I got in for free and it was a nice day.

The man at the visitor center was also nice. But, he was very old and got lost on his way back from getting a map. Needless to say, he wasnt all that helpful but he had a map, which was helpful, so forget what I said about him not being helpful. I wish I could just delete that part.

After the whole patapsco thing, I followed the directions that I got, and it was an epic fail, so I just started driving the other way, which worked out nicely. I got home and then went with my family to my sister's volleyball banquet. It was on the bay and there was a dock with a decent diving board. After doing a few flips off of it, I decided to try my luck with a double front flip. Afraid that I would under rotate, I decided to just go all out. This was a bad move.

I have heard that hitting water at really high speeds is about te same as hitting concrete. Now I know first hand... I over rotated and did a massive face plant... from a really high jump... with a lot of rotation (The rotation gave my head an extra boost of velocity!!!)

Heres how it feels:
In the split second before contact, I relized what was happening and I partly opened my eyes to see if it was true and then closed them at the last possible moment.
Then I got slapped....hard
I could feel the water pushing my face and my skull pushing back. Ever part of my face that didnt have a calcium sheild was thrust toward the back of my head(particularly the eyeballs).
IT ALMOST KNOCKED ME OUT. That would have been BAD.
Someone asked me if I was OK, but I only had partial brain function and I really wasnt sure if I was OK. All i knew was that my chest and face felt like they had been hit by a truck, made of concrete and I felt like I was still spinning. Once I got a hold o myself, I hurried back to the dock. My bright red flesh with welts forming spots.
The moral of the story.... Water Hurts

PS. While I was typing this, I noticed that every time I type the word "park" my fingers go on and type "parkour"
